Verizon Communications reported earnings of $1.8 billion on revenue of $18.2 billion in the first quarter of 2005, paced by gains in wireless and record digital-subscriber-line additions of 385,000.
Those results compare to $1.2 billion in earnings on $17.1 billion in revenue in the year-earlier period.
The record additions gave Verizon 3.9 million DSL subscribers. Some 58% of customers are now in bundles, Verizon said, which currently generate 40% of its overall revenue from wireless.
The company said it remained on track with its “FiOS TV” buildout and its video deployment later this year.
