Rancho Cordova, Calif.-DST Innovis Inc., though its partnership with Bull Worldwide Information Systems, will port its convergence billing product, "Intelecable," to Bull's high-powered "IA-64" server.
The improvement will allow DST's cable-system customers more flexibility to increase marketing and customer-profiling tools. Further, Intelecable users may be able to reduce the number of machines they are operating in data centers, resulting in easier system management and decreased administrative costs.
Intelecable runs on Bull's "Escala PowerPC" system, which was benchmarked to scale to 15 million customers. With this new development, Intelecable can be used with either Escala or the higher-powered multiprocessor.
