E! Networks is poised to enter the satellite-radio orbit.
Joining a number of other basic-cable networks, E! Entertainment Television
has inked programming agreements with XM Satellite Radio Inc. and Sirius
Satellite Radio Inc. to provide content from its original series and its library
fare, E! Networks senior vice president of business development and online Lynn
Heide said in a prepared statement.
Under the agreements, audio portions of such shows as E! True Hollywood
Story, Mysteries and Scandals and E! News Daily will be
available for broadcast when XM debuts Sept. 12. The programming will also air
on Sirius when it bows later this year.
'E! Networks is constantly exploring new mediums and expanding its outreach
to audiences around the world,' Heide said. 'Our goal is to bring audiences
closer to the world of entertainment, and satellite radio provides one more
platform for a 24-hour channel. We are excited to be part of the launch of the
Sirius and XM Radio services, which will further extend our brand.'
XM has signed programming deals with the likes of CNBC, CNNfn, C-SPAN and
Discovery Channel. Sirius has pacts with ESPN, Fox News Channel, USA Network and
A&E Television Networks, among others.
