E!, Style Get ‘Sex And The City'

Comcast-owned E! and Style will be basic cable's homes to HBO's Sex and the City starting in January 2011.

The networks gain certain broadband, wireless and video-on-demand rights in addition to all six seasons (94 episodes) of the iconic New York-based series, Comcast Entertainment Group said. It stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis and Kim Cattrall (seen at left in HBO photo by Craig Blankenthorn).

TBS, a sibling network to HBO within Time Warner Inc., currently has the basic-cable rights to SATC.

Earlier Comcast secured rights from New Line Cinema for the film Sex and the City, which E! will debut in July 2012.

"Sex and the City is an anthem for women today," Cyndi McClellan, executive vice president, program strategy and research, at Comcast Entertainment Group said in a release. "The series has remained a pop culture phenomenon for over 10 years and still attracts new fans."
