EarthLink Inc. has added another retail plank to its cable-modem rollout in
Time Warner Cable markets, forging a deal with Micro Electronics Inc.'s Micro
Center to offer high-speed Internet access at select stores in Cincinnati,
Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio; Detroit; Tustin, Calif.; Houston; Long Island,
N.Y.; and Overland Park, Kan.
The announcement is an extension of a deal inked earlier this year making
EarthLink Micro Center's primary Internet-service-provider partner for
digital-subscriber-line and dial-up service at its 19 stores nationwide.
Sales associates are now getting training to market the cable-modem
'EarthLink is the perfect fit for Micro Center's tech-savvy clientele,' said
Kevin Flaherty, EarthLink's vice president of retail sales, in a release. 'With
the addition of high-speed cable access, EarthLink now provides a more
diversified product offering to Micro Center customers, allowing them to choose
what high-speed technology is best for their needs.'
