Atlanta -- The Eastern Show may be canceled this year due
to the lack of a venue.
Executives for the Southern Cable Television Association
are still trying to fix a time and place for the annual conference, raising the
possibility that there may be no trade show this year.
Nancy Horne, executive director for the regional trade
association that covers the Southern states, said she was not prepared to announce her
intentions about the show, adding that she is still trying to secure a location.
Approximately 4,000 members of the association gather
annually in the fall. In the past, they have met in the Atlanta Merchandise Mart. However,
the owner of the Mart converted it from a meeting space into offices.
Now, the Eastern Show must compete with other industries to
find a new venue in what has become a very active convention destination.
