EchoStar Communications Corp. has added a second German-language channel to Dish Network’s international-channel lineup.
Dish is now offering ProSiebenSat.1 Welt, which the direct-broadcast satellite distributor said incorporates the best programming from Sat. 1, ProSieben, Kabel 1 and N24 direct from Munich.
The combo channel offers an assortment of programs such as TV movies, comedies, news and sports, including Bundesliga soccer matches.
The network joins German TV on the Dish dial. That service melds programming from Germany's three leading broadcasters -- ARD, ZDF and Deutsche Welle. Viewers can see such shows at Tagesschau, Germany’s longest running news show; top-rated detective fare like Tatort; sports highlights; soap operas; movies; and educational kids’ shows, among other genres.
“No other pay TV company can match Dish Network's international-programming options, and the launch of ProSiebenSat.1 Welt reinforces Dish Network's leadership position within the industry,” EchoStar vice president of international programming Tracy Thompson said in a prepared statement.
“ProSiebenSat.1 Welt offers programming from some of the most popular channels in Germany, offering a full range of TV programs including entertainment, sports and leading television personalities,” Thompson added.
