EchoStar Dials Up Sprint

Following on the heels of Verizon Communications’ agreement with DirecTV Inc. last week, Sprint Corp. and EchoStar Communications Corp. announced a marketing and sales pact Tuesday.

Under terms of the deal, Sprint will offer EchoStar’s Dish Network direct-broadcast satellite service to its local-telephone customers in 18 states.

The telco can now offer a complete bundled-service package of local telephony, long-distance telephony, wireless telephony, digital subscriber line and video.

"We're confident that this bundle of Dish Network's video services and Sprint's DSL, wireless and voice services represents a package that rivals any in the marketplace," EchoStar senior vice president of alliance management Nolan Daines said in a release.
