EchoStar Communications Corp. filed and settled federal lawsuits against three individuals who violated Dish Network's intellectual-property rights on Internet auction site eBay Inc. (www.ebay.com).

The direct-broadcast satellite provider said one man each from the Seattle area; Hallettsville, Texas; and Struthers, Ohio violated the Digital Millennium Copyright Act by selling piracy-related items on eBay.

EchoStar added that the three men took payment for and delivered piracy-related equipment to agents of its signal-integrity group.
