New Orleans -- In a surprise appearance at the National Show, The Walt Disney
Co. chairman Michael Eisner Tuesday inadvertently mentioned that ABC Family has
an affiliation-renewal deal with DirecTV Inc.
Terms were not disclosed.
The deal comes on the heels of a similar affiliation agreement in March with
EchoStar Communications Corp., which settled a lawsuit.
Eisner also said Disney's relationships with cable operators are strong
despite operator concerns over increased affiliation fees from Disney-owned
networks ESPN and ABC Family.
'Cable is amongst our best businesses and our best relationships,' Eisner
said. 'Our relationships with cable are the most economically strong around the
world. All of our cable platforms are performing well to the consumer.'
Eisner confirmed that Disney and MSO executives would meet Tuesday
