Emmy-Winner Hoppe Will Be Curious For Discovery

Emmy Award-winning producer Beth Hoppe will serve as executive producer of Discovery's five-year, Curiosity: The Questions of Life project.
Most recently the president and CEO of Optomen Productions, Hoppe, who won Emmys for her work in public television for Thirteen/WNET New York with series DNA and The Secret Life of the Brain, will oversee production of the 60-episode series for Discovery Studios.
The multimillion dollar Curiosity is scheduled to premiere in February 2011 on Sundays at 8 p.m., with the first of 12 annual installments. Each year, Curiosity will examine a different mystery of the modern era.
Under her watch, New York-based Optomen produced shows for Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, History, Lifetime Television and Food Network.
"For Curiosity to be the definitive television experience for the knowledge seeker, it must have a world-class storyteller with a deep, multidisciplinary background lead it," said Discovery Communications founder and chairman John Hendricks in a statement. "Beth has the ideal skill set and artistic vision needed to capture Discovery's mission of ‘satisfying curiosity.'"
