Emmys: 'The Daily Show' Wins Best Variety Series

Comedy Central’s The Daily Show With Jon Stewart won several Emmy awards in the variety series category including Best Variety/Talk series in Stewart’s final year as host of the late night show.

The series topped ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live, HBO's Last Week With John Oliver; CBS' Late Show With David Letterman; Comedy Central's The Colbert Report; and NBC's The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Stewart, who retired from the series in August, said in accepting the award: "I will never have this experience again ... you will never have to see me again."

The Daily Show also won for Best Writing In A Variety Series, topping other Comedy Central series Inside Amy Schumer, Key & Peele and The Colbert Report as well as HBO’s Last Night With John Oliver for the honor.

The Daily Show's Chuck O'Neil also won an Emmy for top Director in a Variety Series.
