A retrospective of the three Woodstock events will be the subject of an
original documentary movie to air on Encore Aug. 17.
My Generation, produced by Academy Award-winning documentary director
Barbara Kopple, will chronicle the evolution, images and idealism generated from
the Woodstock events of 1969, 1994 and 1999, Encore executives said.
The documentary uses original musical and audience footage to show the
similarities and differences between the generations attending each of the
cultural shows. While not originally produced for Encore, the network did pay an
unspecified amount for exclusive rights to televise the film.
'Encore is increasingly a channel that's really defining itself by trying to
bridge the generations by showing great films of past and present and also
focusing on great filmmakers,' Starz Pictures vice president of original movies
Paige Orloff said.
