Video processing and encoding specialist Envivio has appointed telecom vet Terry Kramer to chairman of the board, elevating him to the board’s top post after he had served as a regular board member since 2011.
Kramer, a former United States ambassador for the World Conference on International Telecommunications (WCIT), has served in a range of executive roles for Vodafone Group/Airtouch Communications during an 18-year run at that company, including regional president of Vodafone Americas. He has also served as CEO of QComm International and was a board member of Fiber Tower, 724 Solutions and Sonim Technologies. These days, he’s a lecturer and factulty advisor at the UCLA Anderson School of management.
“I have enjoyed working with the company at the center of TV without boundaries and am excited by Envivio's pioneering technology," Kramer said, in a release. "The video industry continues to advance at a rapid pace, and consumers' appetites for TV anywhere require innovators like Envivio to develop solutions that improve network efficiency and the user experience.”
Envivio shares got a nice bump last month when the company’s second quarter results beat Wall Street estimates thanks in part to healthier sales to tier 1 operators in the U.S. and in Europe.
