Epix will present a comedy special starring the acerbic Lewis Black in December.
Filmed live at the Fillmore Theater in Detroit, the special, Stark Raving Black, will feature The Daily Show contributor's unique brand of "pissed off optimism" to sold out, standing room only audiences and Epix viewers in December.
Epix, which earlier this month announced its first affiliate deal, a multiplatform pact with Verizon's FiOS, is slated to launch in October.
Stark Raving Black will also hit theaters this fall in 20 U.S. markets, including New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Detroit, accompanied by a promo for Epix. Additionally, the special will be theatrically released in 25 international markets.
Following the premiere of this hour-long event, fans will be invited to join Black online in the Epix Event Theater at www.epixHD.com, where they may ask questions, trade quips and interact with the comic.
"Lewis Black defines the kind of original, smart content Epix is going to deliver," said Epix president Mark Greenberg in a statement. "His comedy is right at the edge of social and political commentary and Epix is at the forefront of an entirely new way to experience entertainment."
