Premium cable networks Epix will be the telecast home of boxing's heavyweight champions in February and March as all three recognized titleholders will fight separate bouts from Germany over three consecutive Saturday nights.
The fights kick off February 18 with Vitali Klitschko defending his World Boxing Council (WBC) title against Top-10 contender Dereck Chisora, followed the next week by undefeated Alexander Povetkin's World Boxing Association (WBA) title tilt against cruiserweight champion Marco Huck. Wladimir Klitschko will round out Epix's heavyweight title coverage as he defends his World Boxing Organization (WBO) and International Boxing Federation (IBF) crowns against two-time world cruiserweight champion Jean Marc Mormeck, the network said.
EpixHD.com will stream the fights live as part of a special free trial offer for boxing fans. The network will also present the closed-captioned simulcast of the three world heavyweight championship fights on a jumbotron in New York's Time Square, said network officials.
"Epix was pleased with the fan reaction to its exclusive live U.S. telecasts of Vitali Klitschko and Alexander Povetkin's heavyweight title fights last year," said Travis Pomposello, Epix CCO and executive producer of Epix Sports in a statement. "Now to be able to televise live an unprecedented three-week block of the best in the heavyweight division is as exciting to Epix as it is to U.S. boxing fans."
