ESPN 3D Tips Off College Hoops Coverage With Tourney Trio


ESPN will give the 3D treatment to a trio of tourneys.
ESPN 3D begins its college basketball coverage over Thanksgiving weekend, with a dozen home games of sorts from the 2010 Old Spice Classic. The network will air four games daily from Walt Disney World Resort on Thanksgiving Nov. 25, Nov. 26 and on Nov. 28. The Old Spice event starts with a Turkey Day feast of Boston College vs. Texas A&M at noon,followed by No. 24 Wisconsin against Manhattan at 2 p.m.and an evening twinbill of Georgia-Notre Dame and No. 22 Temple-California at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m., respectively.
The Jimmy V Classic from Madison Square Garden on Dec. 7 is also on the 3D tap, with No. 19 Memphis engaging No. 7 Kansas at 7 p.m., and No. 2 Michigan State, off back-to-back NCAA Final Four appearances, playing defending Big East champion Syracuse at 9 p.m. Both of those contests also will air on ESPN.
Four days later as part of the DirecTV SEC/Big East Invitational, ESPN 3D will air Auburn-Rutgers from the new Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, trailed by No. 20 Tennessee and No. 4 Pittsburgh at 3:15 p.m.
Network officials said additional college games may be added to the slate this season. Sony is the official sponsor of college basketball on ESPN 3D and the contests on the network will utilize Sony professional cameras.
