In Demand L.L.C. will add X Games programming and classic boxing matches to
its video-on-demand lineup after reaching a distribution deal Wednesday with
ESPN.
Beginning in January, the 18-month, nonexclusive deal will allow In Demand to
offer on a VOD basis such ESPN library programming as SportsCentury
episodes, highlights from past X Games, classic boxing matches such as Muhammad
Ali versus George Foreman and vintage college-football and college-basketball
games.
ESPN joins other basic networks that have reached VOD distribution deals with
In Demand, such as Turner Broadcasting System Inc.'s channels, Comedy Central,
Courtroom Television Networks and Discovery Channel.
'Sports programming has been a cornerstone of the cable business since its
inception, and we are confident that ESPN's rich inventory of content available
for VOD will be an invaluable asset to our affiliates and their customers,' In
Demand executive vice president Rob Jacobson said.
