ESPN HD and ESPN2 HD will air more than 400 events in August, 61 of them live.
ESPN2 HD alone will deliver 30 event telecasts, including Major League Baseball, the National Hot Rod Association, the US Open Series in tennis, the Little League World Series and the Men’s U.S. National Soccer Team.
Among the highlights of ESPN2 HD’s slate: the U.S. Men’s National Team’s Fédération Internationale de Football Association World Cup qualifying match against Trinidad and Tobago Wednesday, Aug. 17 at 8 p.m. (EST), live from Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Conn.
“These new sports slated to appear on both services , but primarily on ESPN2 HD, give us a tremendous opportunity to open the door to new owners of high-definition sets and let them see what they have been missing,” ESPN vice president of strategic planning and business development Bryan Burns said in a prepared statement.
“We continue every day to increase our commitment to high-definition and make ESPN2 HD a must have for our distributors and fans,” he added.
