ESPN HD Does Grass Valley Deal

Thomson Corp. Monday announced a $13.1 million order from ESPN for its Grass Valley HD-broadcast equipment.

Thomson will supply products including switchers, cameras, routing systems, control systems and modular products for ESPN’s new HD-production center in Bristol, Conn.

The new, 120,000-square-foot ESPN Digital Center will supply programming for the network's all-HD ESPN HD channel, currently available to direct-broadcast satellite and cable systems throughout the United States.

ESPN will install a variety of Grass Valley HD and multiformat broadcast products in the production center, including the "Kalypso HD Video Processing Center" switcher, "Trinix" large-scale video-routing switcher, "Apex" audio router, "LDK 6000 mk II Standard" multiformat HD cameras and "Kameleon" modular products.
