ESPN Slides Into Spanish Radio


ESPN's Spanish-language Deportes venture will go into radio July 15 with
Major League Baseball's All-Star Game.

ESPN and ABC Radio Networks will team up to offer special All-Star Game
coverage, as well as radiocasts of MLB's League Championship Series and World
Series this fall. Coverage of other sports will be announced later this

Spanish-language stations in New York, Miami, Houston, Dallas, Phoenix and
San Diego are already aboard for the Deportes radio package, which will be
distributed by Latino Broadcasting Co.

Jaime Jarrin, Roberto Clemente Jr. and Hector Molina will comprise the
Deportes baseball announcing team. Advertising time is being sold by Interrep,
but no sponsor deals were reached at press time.

ESPN Deportes currently programs four to six hours of Sunday-night
programming for Latinos each week over a separate ESPN video feed. The venture
is expected to become full-time later this fall.
