ESPN Tallies 15.1 Million  'MNF' Viewers For New Orleans-San Francisco

ESPN kept its winning ways during the second week with its Monday Night Football slate.
The network's presentation of the New Orleans Saints' 25-22 win over the San Francisco 49ers on the game's final play averaged a 10.9 cable household rating, 10.9 million households and 15.1 million viewers, according to Nielsen data. That compared with an 11.0 rating, 10.8 million homes and 14.7 million watchers for the second MNF game of the 2009, Indianapolis-Miami.
Saints-Niners topped Colts-Dolphins by 3% in average audience in becoming the second-most-watched show on cable this year, behind the 2009 MNF season finale -- Minnesota Vikings-Chicago Bears on Dec. 12, 2009, which falls into the 2010 Nielsen calendar.
Through the first two weeks (three games), ESPN, which showcased the Baltimore Ravens-New York Jets and San Diego Chargers-Kansas City Chiefs doubleheader on Sept. 13,  averaged a 10.3 household rating, 10.3 million homes and 14.1 million, increases of 3%, 4% and 5%, respectively, through the same span last season.
ESPN's MNF telecasts rank as the four biggest audiences among households and the three biggest among total viewers for cable television in 2010.
