Driven by a 11.2 rating for its coverage of the Cincinnati Bengals-Indianapolis Colts National Football League Game, ESPN won the basic-cable primetime ratings battle last week, averaging a 2.9 rating.
NFL Network, a cable newcomer, tied TBS for sixth place in primetime, averaging a 1.5 rating. The network was driven by the 5.4 rating it pulled for its Dec. 21 Vikings-Packers game.
USA Network placed second in primetime, with a 2.2 rating. It was followed by Disney Channel (2.1); TNT (1.7); Lifetime Television (1.6); TBS and NFL Network (1.5 each); ABC Family (1.4); and Nick at Nite, A&E, Cartoon Network and Hallmark Channel, which tied for ninth place, each with a 1.2 rating.
There was also a four-way tie for 13th place, with Spike TV, Fox News Channel, FX and Court TV each averaging a 1.2 rating in primetime.
Nickelodeon won the total-day race, averaging a 1.8 rating. It was followed by Disney (1.3); USA, ESPN, TNT and Cartoon (1.0); Lifetime and TBS (0.9); and ABC Family, A&E and Hallmark (0.8).
