While Major League Baseball's future may be cloudy due to a potential strike,
the sport remains very popular on ESPN.
The network's 1.77 rating for 18 Sunday Night Baseball telecasts is up
15 percent from 2001, according to the network.
The performance tally includes ESPN's Aug. 4 St. Louis Cardinals-Atlanta
Braves game, which pulled a 3.07 rating -- ESPN's highest-rated game in more
than two years.
Overall, ESPN's baseball ratings are up 25 percent, from a 0.51 in 2001 to a
0.64 this year, network executives said.
