ESPN said Monday that next month's live ESPY Awards primetime special is sold
out for the second year.
The show -- which will originate from Las Vegas Feb. 12 at 9 p.m., with actor
Samuel L. Jackson hosting -- has renewed General Motors Corp. and Pennzoil
Products Co. as presenting sponsors.
In addition, Pennzoil will sponsor the newly added 'Fan Favorite Athletic
Award,' which will allow consumers to cast votes for their favorite athlete of
the year, both online on ESPN's Web site and
via ballots at AutoZone Inc. stores nationwide, ESPN/ABC Sports customer
marketing and sales president Ed Erhardt said.
That award will be presented during the ESPY Red Carpet Special, which
bows at 8 p.m., one hour before the main award show.
Accounts like The Quaker Oats Co.'s Gatorade, New York Life and Royal
Caribbean International have signed on as associate sponsors, joining AT&T
Corp., Heineken N.V., Visa International and Ernst & Young LLP, the
accounting firm that also tabulates the votes for the award
