EWTN Gains Distribution Ground With Cablevision, Time Warner Cable

EWTN has added carriage in New York and Charlotte via rollouts with Cablevision Systems Corp. and Time Warner Cable.

As part of the operator's Family Cable (expanded basic) package, The Global Catholic Network recently became available to Cablevision's iO TV customers throughout the New York DMA. Metro New York's predominant cable operator is positioning EWTN on digital channel 35. Deal terms were not disclosed.

"We are pleased that Cablevision customers in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut now have access to EWTN 24 hours a day, seven days a week," said EWTN president and CEO Michael Warsaw in a statement. "We thank God for this wonderful development."
Down in Charlotte, EWTN is now available to Time Warner Cable subscribers, with the word also being spread in the Albermarle, Salisbury, Kannapolis/Concord, Gastonia, Shelby, Rockingham, and Wadesboro areas.
"Summer is a great time to be added to the Time Warner Cable lineup," noted Warsaw. "Summer events on EWTN include the papal visit to San Giovanni Rotondo (where the Pope will pray at the tomb of Saint Padre Pio), a half-hour special called ‘Padre Pio's San Giovanni: I Can Refuse No One,' the 2009 National March for Life in Canada, coverage of the U.S. Bishops' Spring Assembly, the conclusion of the Year of St. Paul and the beginning of the Year of the Priest, documentaries on the Sudan, beautiful stories of some of the Church's most compelling saints and much more."
