ExerciseTV Boosts On-Demand Content

ExerciseTV, Comcast’s on-demand service dedicated to fitness, said it closed three programming deals with content providers.

In the first, Gaiam will make its first foray into television with the launch of the Gaiam fitness channel nested within the ExerciseTV platform. The deal with give ExerciseTV features video-on-demand content from top-selling Gaiam titles, including premium cardio, sculpting, yoga, pilates and balance ball workouts.

The Gaiam fitness titles launching on ExerciseTV include Dancer’s Body Workout by Patricia Moreno; Tae Bo by Billy Blanks; and The FIRM Super Body Sculpt by The FIRM.

In the second deal, Stott Pilates, producer of the world’s largest library of Pilates home exercise videos, will bring a selection of 25 of its titles to ExerciseTV.

Stott Pilates DVDs feature workouts led by co-founder and master instructor trainer Moira Merrithew, a former ballet dancer and a student of Romana Kryzanowska, the Pilates instructor trained by the late Joseph Pilates himself. In the final deal, ExerciseTV is partnering with Walk at Home creator Leslie Sansone to air 15 new Sansone titles, comprising nine-and-one-half hours of programming on the on-demand fitness channel. Sansone’s Walk at Home program is the fastest-growing indoor exercise program in the country, and her exercise DVDs have been consistent best-sellers in retail outlets. Sansone’s book, Walk Away the Pounds, has been a best-seller in the fitness category for the past five years; her new book, Eat Smart, Walk Strong, was released in January 2007.
