Former Court TV president Richard Beahrs has been named chairman of Expo Communications.
The company will launch full-time video-marketplace channel Expo TV sometime during the third quarter of 2005, complementing an already existing on-demand service and community Web site (www.expotv.com).
Beahrs retired as president of Court TV in 2004, and he previously served as president of The Comedy Channel, which became Comedy Central, and senior vice president of Home Box Office.
Expo also announced a multiplatform affiliation agreement with Bresnan Communications.
Under terms of the deal, Expo TV will be made available to most of Bresnan's digital-basic customers, and its on-demand service will be made available to all of the MSO’s video-on-demand-enabled homes.
“Expo's commitment to cross-promote between their multiple platforms will help us to attract new audiences to our growing on-demand service,” Bresnan executive VP of operations Steve Brookstein said in a prepared statement. “They're creating unique commerce programming with demonstrated appeal and making it work for both us and our customers.”
