As part of a reorganization of NBC Universal sales, the programmer will soon name a new executive to lead its cable ad sales group.
Michael Pilot, who replaced Keith Turner as president of NBC U Sales and Marketing late in 2006, is expected to announce a new cable ad sales president within the next few weeks. The executive in that newly created position will have responsibilities over the sales effort for USA Network, Sci-Fi Channel and Bravo, as well as diginets Chiller, Sleuth and Universal HD.
Under the new set-up, Marianne Gambelli, who has been serving as executive vice president of NBCU sales and marketing since 2004, is now president of the unit. Her oversight now extends to leading the ad sales efforts for all of the NBC TV networks units—entertainment, news, sports and Olympic, plus regional offices located in Los Angeles, Detroit and Chicago. MSNBC and CNBC will fall under Gambelli’s news watch.
“This new structure allows us to even better position our selling, marketing and consumer insight capabilities, creating added value for our clients and furthering our efforts to take a more client-centric, solutions-oriented approach to the market,” said Pilot in a statement.
