A Palos Verdes, Calif., broadcaster is too far away from Time Warner Cable's systems near Barstow, Calif., to expect cable carriage, according to the Federal Communications Commission.
The FCC previously rejected an attempt by KXLA to gain carriage in Time Warner's systems in that city and the surrounding areas in San Bernardino County.
The station appealed, arguing that it offers programming of unique interest to Asian-American population groups. But the FCC reiterated its earlier position, noting that the station is 105-118 miles from the communities it wishes to reach through cable carriage.
The communities lie beyond the broadcaster's grade-B contour, the agency added in a decision released Thursday.
