FCC to Host a la Carte Forum July 29

A la carte cable-programming issues will take center stage July 29 at a public forum hosted by the Federal Communications Commission, the agency said Thursday.

The FCC is preparing an a la carte report for Congress that is due Nov. 18. In a press release, the commission said the symposium would run from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m., and it would be held at agency headquarters in Washington, D.C. No speakers were announced.

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and leaders of the House Energy and Commerce Committee have asked the FCC to study whether cable operators and satellite carriers can offer subscribers a la carte choices without harming the economics of the industry.
