Chicago -- Innovative Sports Marketing, along with U.S.
Soccer and Nike, has acquired rights to the FIFA Under-17 World Championship for the first
time, allowing fans to follow the U.S. men's soccer team as it tries to make history
in New Zealand.
The 16-team tournament kicks off Nov. 10 in Auckland, with
the U.S. team facing the host nation, and concludes with the championship match on Nov.
As part of a 17-game package, each U.S. match will be
featured live on EchoStar Communications Corp.'s Dish Network via pay-per-view. The
Cox Communications Inc. system in Fairfax, Va., will also offer the games on a PPV basis.
Retail prices range from $14.95 for the first-round games to $79.95 for the whole package.
Fox Sports World and Fox Sports Español will broadcast the
games on a tape-delayed basis.
The U.S. team enters the tournament riding a 20-game
unbeaten streak, the longest ever for an American men's national team. The 18-player
squad features high-scoring forward Landon Donovan and crafty midfielder DaMarcus Beasley,
two players who turned pro before their 17th birthdays.
The Fox Sports World broadcasts are scheduled to air in 24-
to 72-hour windows after each match.
