Peter Filon, minority counsel of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, is joining the Washington, D.C., office of Comcast Corp. -- the country’s largest cable-system operator, with more than 22 million subscribers -- according to communications lobbyists.

Filon worked closely with Rep. John Dingell (D-Mich.), who strongly opposed a recently passed House telecommunications bill that would allow phone companies to enter local cable markets within 30 days under a national-franchising scheme.

Comcast’s D.C. office is headed by Kerry Knott, who was chief of staff to former House Majority Leader Dick Armey (R-Texas).
