Jerry Seinfeld used to boast that his hit sitcom was about nothing, and Fine
Living seems to be taking a page out of his book.
In honor of Labor Day, the fledgling Scripps Networks service is pre-empting
its regularly scheduled programming to air A Day of Nothing -- just
footage of a lounge chair and an umbrella from some of Hawaii's beaches, as well
as some words of advice.
Fine Living's special, airing from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 2, will feature
footage from Ala Moana and Hanauma Bay beaches, as well as poolside coverage
from Halekulani beach. In addition, 80 Fine Living tips will be included during
the special -- lines such as 'Wear a pareo. While vacuuming.'
'So many people today have such a hectic lifestyle that finding time to slow
down can be difficult,' Fine Living president Ken Solomon said in a prepared
statement. 'Our Labor Day special will deliver tips on letting go of your
worries, relaxing and enjoying life, while featuring some of the most beautiful
beaches in the world to go to unwind.'
He continued, 'Like the popular broadcast of Christmas Yule logs during the
holidays, our Day of Nothing will rejuvenate viewers back into a
productive work mode.'
