Verizon Communications Inc. extended its Verizon FiOS TV video service in Hillsborough County, Fla., adding service reaching 22,000 homes in Keystone and Alafia.
The two towns join a list of nine other Hillsborough County communities where the fiber-fed FiOS TV service is now offered, passing a total of 55,000 homes. FiOS TV is also up and running elsewhere in Florida, in Temple Terrace and southern Manatee County.
At the same time, Verizon is rolling out two new HDTV channels for Florida viewers. MTV HD and National Geographic HD will be added starting around March 30, bringing the total FiOS TV lineup for Florida to 24 channels.
The service offers 350 channels of video and audio programming, with a basic package starting at $34.95 per month for 180 channels. It also offers more than 2,200 video-on-demand titles, with that number expected to increase to 3,500 in the coming months, according to Verizon.
