Verizon Communications Inc.’s FiOS TV service won two more video franchises Monday.
The Board of Supervisors of Fairfax County, Va., and the Massapequa Park (N.Y.) Village Board of Trustees each approved franchises for FiOS TV.
Fairfax County, with 351,000 households, became the largest jurisdiction to date to grant Verizon a cable franchise, the regional Bell operating company said Tuesday. Verizon already has Virginia franchises in Herndon and the Marine Corps Base in Quantico.
And Massapequa Park became the first community in New York to OK FiOS TV, subject to review by the New York Public Service Commission, the company added.
Verizon’s agreement with Fairfax County covers 15 years, while its Massapequa Park franchise covers 10 years with an option for five more.
FiOS TV launched in Keller, Texas, last Thursday with a lineup made up of more than 330 channels.
