Verizon Communications Inc. added its second Verizon FiOS TV market in Massachusetts last week, launching in Reading, home to 23,000 residents.
The company recently launched service in Woburn, Mass.
"FiOS TV gives Reading consumers an outstanding, superior alternative for their video entertainment," said Donna Cupelo, Verizon region president for Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
Verizon said it’s negotiating cable franchises with 30 other communities in Massachusetts.
The regional Bell operating company added that it launched online programming from ABC News, Disney Online, ESPN and Movies.com (movies.go.com) for its FiOS data and Verizon Online digital-subscriber-line customers last week, the first broadband-service provider to offer the TV and online content from that wide swatch of The Walt Disney Co. companies.
The online programming includes live video-news feeds, live sports events, children's entertainment and other content specially targeted to broadband Internet users.
