Travel Channel Wednesday announced it will air an all-day Food Paradise marathon beginning at 9 a.m. ET on Friday, July 4 with live cut-ins to the proceedings taking place at the National Mall in Washington D.C. up to and including the live broadcast of the city’s elaborate fireworks show.
Each program in the network’s Fourth of July marathon, including the live broadcast of the fireworks, is produced by NBC’s Peacock Productions in association with Travel Channel and will be available in high-definition on the network’s HD simulcast channel, Travel Channel HD.
With a full menu of flavorful barbeque, juicy hamburgers, tender steak, refreshing ice cream, and other iconic Fourth of July foods, viewers should ready their palate for a delicious spread of their favorite episodes of Food Paradise, network officials said.
The live cut-ins throughout the marathon will also include pre-taped segments about the history of the National Mall, and exclusive taped interviews with the presumed Republican and Democratic presidential candidates, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) and Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL), as they each reveal their favorite July Fourth memory.
Viewers can also watch a scrolling SMS message ticker where they can text-in their messages and see their Fourth of July “shout outs” appear on-screen, as well as their answers to the interactive Food Paradise viewer polls that will be conducted throughout the marathon.
The Travel Channel is available in 91 million U.S. cable homes.
