FX has green-lighted an original film based on a point-shaving scandal
involving college-basketball players in 1993 and 1994.

Shooting on Confessions of a Campus Bookie will begin on Nov. 12 in
Los Angeles, FX entertainment president Kevin Reilly announced Tuesday.

The offbeat film -- starring David Krumholtz (Slums of Beverly Hills,
The Mexican) and directed by Ernest Dickson (Bones, Turner Network
Television's upcoming Monday Night Mayhem) -- is set to air on the
general-entertainment network next spring.

Confessions is based on the true story of Benny Silman (Krumholtz), a
Brooklyn native whose move into the world of sports gambling triggered a bribery
conspiracy that involved four Arizona State University basketball games during
the 1993-94 season.

Silman received a 46-month prison sentence for his role in the point-shaving
scandal.
