Food Looks for Star, Finds Viewers

Ratings for Food Network’s competition show are heating up.

The second installment of The Next Food Network Star -- in which professionals and amateurs alike engage in a series of challenges that test their personalities, knowledge and kitchen skills -- improved key demo performances Sunday.

The June 12 show, which matched the 1.0 household rating produced by its June 5 premiere, increased its ratings against adults 18-49 and 25-54 by 14% to a 0.7 average among both groups, according to Nielsen Media Research data.

Food officials said those performances were good for the eighth and ninth spots, respectively, among all ad-supported cable networks against those demos in the 9 p.m. hour.
