Although the 2012 Daytime Emmys will be remembered for a quintet of wins for General Hospital and a bon voyage for Regis Philbin, cable posted several victories as well.
Held in Beverly Hills and airing on HLN, the 39th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards saw Food Network claim a pair of statues, while kids players Nickelodeon and The Hub were also honored.
In the culinary program category, Food Network with all four nominations on the menu - Giada At Home, Guy's Big Bite, Sandwich King and Bobby Flay's Barbeque Addiction -- triumphed with the latter. The Scripps service also added an Emmy to its pantry in outstanding culinary/lifestyle host team with Sandra Lee for her work on Semi-Homemade Cooking with Sandra Lee.
Executives Nickelodeon, which has been stung by ratings erosion, had reason to feel good on Saturday as it gained the outstanding children's animated program courtesy of Penguins of Madagascar. The show topped two other Nick entries, Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness and the venerable SpongeBob SquarePants, as well as the PBS duo of Curious George and Sid the Science Kid and American Public Television's Peep & The Big Wide World.
As for The Hub, its Emmy came in the outstanding game show host competition, where Todd Newton's work on Family Game Night outdid the performances of Ben Bailey on Discovery Channel's Cash Cab, Wayne Brady on CBS's Let's Make a Deal and Meredith Vieira on the syndicated version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.
ABC's General Hospital topped this year's Daytime Emmys with five wins, including best drama for an 11th time, while Anthony Gearey's portrayal of Luke Spencer earned him a seventh lead actor Emmy.

NBC' Today was the best morning show and Jeopardy! was the leading game show.
Sydication's Live with Regis and Kelly was the best entertainment talk show, while Ripa and Regis were the best talk-show hosts. Philbin's co-hosting duties ended last November, but a replacement had yet to be named to join Ripa on a full-time basis.
