Food Sets ‘Cook with Your Kids’ Campaign

Food Network Thursday announced one of its largest-ever networkwide initiatives.

Food’s “Cook With Your Kids” is aimed at getting “the whole family into the kitchen this October to show parents and kids the benefits of cooking together,” the Scripps Networks-owned service said in a prepared statement.

The network will roll out a multimillion-dollar advertising campaign with the message: “When you cook with your kids, you get more than just a good meal, you get lessons that last a lifetime.”

Plans include print ads featuring chef Emeril Lagasse in parenting magazines such as Child, Family Circle, Parents, Redbook, Scholastic Parent & Child, Time Out New York Kids and Working Mother, along with national cable ads on ABC Family, Lifetime Television, E! Entertainment Television, Nick at Nite, Oxygen and The Learning Channel.

The on-air highlight of the initiative is one week of Cook with Your Kids programming Oct. 3-9.

Food is also running a national sweepstakes that began Monday and continues through Oct. 15, and its grand prize is a cooking class with Lagasse in New York.
