Four More Years for President Obama

NBC First To Make Call on Re-Election, Following Democrat's Win in Ohio

Barack Obama has been re-elected as President of the United States, staving off the challenge of Republican candidate Mitt Romney, according to television network projections.

Led by NBC a 11:12 (ET), all of the networks projected that Obama, buoyed by a win in Ohio, would surpass the 270 Electoral College votes necessary to earn a second term. Obama’s triumph in the Buckeye State was soon followed by triumphs in Oregon and Iowa to put the incumbent over the top.

Among the remaining Presidential questions on Election Night are what the final Electoral College tally will be for the Democrat, as tallies suggested Obama could also add Florida and other states to his column, and whether his reelection would come without gaining the popular vote.

Neither Obama or Romney had made their speeches at press time.
