Fox Cable Bolsters Affiliate-Sales Team

Fox Cable Networks Group has bulked up its affiliate marketing and ad-sales team, naming former ABC Cable Networks Group executive Todd Schoen as senior vice president of affiliate marketing and ad sales.

Schoen, who held the same title at ABC Cable, replaces Janice Arouh, who left Fox for a job at Hallmark Channel in January.

“With the addition of Todd, I think I now have the best management team in the country among programmers,” Fox Cable executive vice president of affiliate sales and marketing Lindsay Gardner said last week.

Gardner also made two other personnel moves. He hired former Court TV vice president Michael Cooper as vice president of local advertising sales, which is a new position.

And he hired former Cox Communications Inc. director of Web marketing and e-commerce Patti Marciano, naming her vice president of affiliate sales, Western region. She replaces Matt Cacciato, who left in January to become senior vice president of affiliate sales at Turner Media’s The Network Group.

Gardner’s affiliate team oversees sales and marketing for FX, Fox Movie Channel, National Geographic Channel, Speed Channel, the new Fuel extreme-sports network, Fox Sports World, Fox Sports en Español, Fox Sports Net and its 12 regional sports channels.

Gardner said Fox Cable will spend more than $10 million in 2004 on affiliate-marketing campaigns.

He said the sales team will continue to push National Geographic Channel and Fuel, which debuted last July.
