Fox Family Renews State of Grace

Pasadena, Calif. -- Fox Family Channel has renewed its critically acclaimed
coming-of-age series, State of Grace, for a second season.

The network has ordered an additional 13 half-hour episodes of the dramedy,
president Maureen Smith announced at the Television Critics Association press
tour here. Production on the new episodes will begin in September, and they are
slated to air in January 2002.

With a pair of back-to-back installments June 25, the dramedy posted a 1.6
household rating, the highest ever for a Fox Family original-series
premiere.

'As the first scripted series to debut from the new team put in place at Fox
Family last year, we are extremely proud of the outstanding critical praise
State of Grace has earned, and we are thrilled that it has already proven
itself in the primetime ratings,' Smith said in a prepared statement.

The series -- billed as some as TheWonder Years for girls --
centers on Hannah Rayburn (voiced by Frances Dourmand), a 47-year-old journalist
reflecting on her life in 1965, when as a 12-year-old (Alia Shawkat), she and
her traditional Jewish family moved to North Carolina.

There, she was enrolled in Catholic school, where she met the high-spirited
Grace McKee (Mae Whitman). While Grace idealizes Hannah's family unity, Hannah
covets her friend's independence.
