Fox Nets 1.7 Million Viewers For Liverpool-Chelsea Encore

Publish date:

Fox continues to score with its Sunday afternoon encore play with English Premier League soccer matches.
The network's airing of Liverpool's 2-1 defeat of Chelsea on Sunday, Nov. 20 in the 4 p.m. (ET) delivered a 1.1 household rating and 1.67 million watchers, according to Nielsen, making it the top Fox encore to date. Of the five international soccer matches broadcast on Fox since 2010, three of which were EPL encores airing since September, only this year's UEFA Champions League Final between FC Barcelona and Manchester United drew a bigger audience -- 2.6 million -- on the network.
Together, the live telecast of Liverpool's win over Chelsea on Fox Soccer and the encore on the broadcast network combined on a1.36 household rating and an audience of 2.03 million.
The combo play, which some believe was a key component in helping Fox secure the rights to FIFA events from 2015 through the 2022 World Cup, also scored with key demos: 366,000 guys 18 to 34, 790,000 males 18 to 49 and 813,000 men 25 to 54.
