Fox News Leads RNC Coverage

Fox News Channel was first by a landslide with the Nielsens among all-news cable networks on the first night of the Republican National Convention Monday night.

Fox News posted a 3.1 rating from 8-11:30 p.m. on Aug. 30 with its coverage from the RNC in New York’s Madison Square Garden, compared to a 1.1 for Cable News Network and a 0.8 for MSNBC, according to Nielsen Media Research data.
Relative to viewers, Fox News averaged some 3.87 million over that span, which included speeches by Sen. John McCain (R.-Ariz.) and former New York City Mayor Rudy Guiliani versus 1.26 million and 854,000 for CNN and MSNBC, respectively, according to a Fox New analysis of Nielsen data.
Among adults 25 to 54, Fox News attracted nearly 1.49 million of those watchers, versus 495,000 for CNN and 273,000 for MSNBC.
