Fox News returned to the top of the weekly primetime cable ratings charts last week with a decisive win over its cable network rivals.
Fox News averaged 2.4 million viewers for the week of Aug. 5 to Aug. 11, besting second place MSNBC’s 1.5 million viewers, according to Nielsen. HGTV finished third for the week with 1.2 million viewers, followed by TLC, USA Network and A&E, which all tied for fourth with 1 million viewers.
CNN -- which topped the primetime chart last week -- finished eighth for the week with 920,000 viewers, behind Hallmark Channel (983,000) and ahead of History (917,000) and Investigation Discovery (914,000).
Fox News continued its ratings dominance in total day, averaging 1.3 million viewers to finish first for the 31st consecutive week. MSNBC, Nickelodeon, HGTV and CNN rounded out the top five networks for the week, said Nielsen.
