RCN plans to launch Fox Reality in several of its major markets this week, with additional rollouts of the network set for the rest of the year, company officials said last week.
RCN will start carrying Fox Reality on digital basic in New York, Chicago and Washington, D.C., effective June 30.
By the end of the year, RCN will debut the News Corp.-owned network in Boston; Philadelphia and Lehigh Valley, Pa.; and San Francisco. In total, Fox Reality will gain about 150,000 RCN subscribers by the end of the year.
“It was one of the options presented by Fox to us for retransmission consent, and we felt that this had the most value for our customers, given the preponderance of fun and interesting reality content available today,” RCN programming head Lynne Buening said.
