Fox Sports en Español has made a flurry of soccer-programming announcements over the past month, including deals covering matches from Mexico’s InterLiga, the U.S.’s Major League Soccer and the English Premier League. The renewal of the deal with Soccer United Marketing, which provides for 14 InterLiga matches each year through 2010, is the most important, according to Fox Sports en Español senior VP of ad sales Tom Maney.
“We are kicking ass and taking names,” said Maney, who expects a 25% to 30% increase in ad-sales take in this year’s upfront, which is still ongoing. The increase is due both to new advertisers, as well as a 10% increase in spending by existing clients.
Fox Sports en Español has made little noise about its Web site, though, which was formerly offered via Yahoo, before the Web-portal company established a long-term, sweeping partnership with broadcaster Telemundo.
Fox Cable Networks is said to be “in the middle of negotiations” with MSN, which is currently hosting the Fox Sports en Español Web site.
